Hey everyone. I’ve posted here before but I don’t think I ever properly introduced myself. My name is Chris Boyd, and I’m a brand new Mobile Wrangler with Automattic. I’ll be working on WordPress for iOS with the rest of the team, helping to make it a killer blogging app.
We’re very close to releasing 2.5, which will include support for iOS 4 and addresses some long-standing issues including cut-and-paste on the iPad. We’ve also got a nifty new setup flow for WordPress.com users: If you’re creating a new blog the process has been simplified, and if you’ve got existing WordPress.com blogs we’ve made adding all of them a breeze.
What we’d like to hear from you moving forward is what you’d like to see in the short term from the app. What do you think it needs most for the next release? We know several people have mentioned video and stats, so we’ll definitely be working hard to get those out. But what else? What haven’t we covered yet? If you could have one feature included in the next month, what would you want it to be?
Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned for the upcoming 2.5 release!

And yes — version 2.5 will be fully-optimized for the Retina Display on iPhone 4.

I would like to see support for custom post types/taxonomies at the moment I only seem able to choose from categories.

Yes, support for custom post types please! I have sites that are completely inaccessible via the iPhone app because the blog is split into three custom post types.

This is a bit selfish, I suppose, but the one thing I’d really like to see improved would be control over images. Considering the improvements to the camera in iPhone 4, I think having a bit more control over the size of the image would be very helpful.

Thanks Taso. Adding more features to the Photos tab is definitely on my list. I’ll see about adding size options.

Thanks Chris! I appreciate all of your hard work.

Make it more simple
There are two many options, to many menus. Right now the app is to geeky. If there would be just one option to post a short message, a photo or a video, this would rock.

I would love it if WordPress allowed us to place images where we wanted to within the post instead of attaching them all at the bottom. To get a grasp of what I mean by this, take a look at BlogPress (iPhone app) and you’ll see what I mean.
Also some decent buttons for bold, italics, blockquotes and bullet points would be nice, coupled with a real hyperlink button.
Most of these suggestions have been implemented for Blackberry and Android users and having something for us iGeeks would keep me in Steve Jobs flock.

This sounds great.
I second @Darnells point of adding basic formatting options: bold, italics, lists.
Also image alignment would be great.
And if I could add only one feature: TextExpander support as I easily can make shortcodes for the necessary HTML.
By the way: I’m happy to have switched over to WordPress. Great platform.

I’d really like to see the iPad app work on self hosted copies of WordPress with multisite enabled. Currently I can’tuse it on my Wordprrss 3.0 RC2 install because of this. This was first reported way back in April, see here. http://bit.ly/a8rHKt

One tiny tweak to the UI that I’d like to see on the iPad version is having to edit a post before you can preview it. It always takes me a second to remember how to access this feature.

Thanks Chris and all wordpressers! I believe the most wanted features would be: 1-Cut/Copy/Paste 2-HTML rich editor 3- custom codes. Maybe at later stage you can think of adding an administration area within the app to handle users creation/modification, plugins, themes. Etc

I have been using WordPress on the iPad to create pages for my website but it crashes whenever I try to save a draft. It would be great if you could fix that
